Your Unofficial Guide to EPCOT’s Alcoholic Beverages and Drinking Around the World

DATWEPCOT’s World Showcase is one of my most favorite places in all of Disney. It is truly beautiful, set around World Showcase lagoon and featuring eleven different countries.  As you stroll through, you’ll move from one country to the next and be immersed in new cultures. Cast members come from the country you are visiting and usually love to tell you about their homeland. Music, architecture, shows and entertainment, as well as food and drinks tell the story and give you a feel for what each country is like.  Almost all of the countries feature a counter service and sit down restaurant and each serves adult beverages.

Here is where the fun comes in. If you can handle it (or if you’re a light weight like me you share), you drink your way around the world. Try a beverage from each country; eleven countries, eleven drinks. Some like to stick with just beer. Or you can try wine, cocktails and even shots. There are lots of ways to make it around; you can go in order – which is how I’ve listed the countries below- or bounce around.  If you want to end your tour with something sweet, France is a good place to make your final stop. Here’s a list of our favorites from each location!

Mexico

This is your first stop and one of the best! You can simply get a good beer like Dos Equis or a frozen margarita, but I recommend going to La Cava del Tequila and sipping on one of their specialty margaritas like the Blood Orange. While there, you might as well order the chips and guacamole because, well, it’s fresh made chips and guacamole.

Norway

They have a few offerings, but I would stick to a Carlsberg beer. Not a huge fan of the selection here, but the country is beautiful! My husband  loves Norway. Mostly because some of his family is from there and it make him feel more like a Viking.

China

Another exquisitely beautiful country, although I think that about each one.  The intricate carvings, bold colors, quiet ponds, and tranquil landscape bring a moment of calm and capture the essence of China.  But anyway, I digress. Drinks: try the Canto Loopy from the Joy of Tea pavilion. It’s a fruity concoction of vodka and cantaloupe juice. If beer is more your flavor, order a Tsing Tao.  Grab a spot and enjoy watching the Chinese Acrobats. These children are truly amazing.

Germany

Land of Oktoberfest. These people know how to have fun and offer a smorgasbord of options. Obviously there’s beer and lots of it. My personal favorite is the Schöfferhofer Grapefruit. If you’ve never tried it you’re missing out!  At the Wine Cellar shop there is a good selection of German wines. And you can even take shots of Jagermeister from the carts. Munch on a pretzel while you enjoy your beer and shop for fun souvenirs. Prost!

Italy

The Tutto Gusto Wine Cellar is a cozy wine cellar featuring over 200 bottles of Italian wine, beer, and small plates of meats, cheese, panini and dessert. A great place to take a break and have some snacks while you enjoy your beverages.

 American Pavilion

The American pavilion is disappointing to me. I just feel like there are much better things to represent the culture and history of the United States. The beer selection used to be lacking, but fortunately they have now added a selection of beers from various craft breweries across the country. My husband likes the Bell’s Oberon Ale.

Japan

In Japan you have got to go with a Kirin or Sapporo from the Kabuki Café. They also serve hot and cold sake. I’ve never tried it, but they serve a Kirin Frozen Beer and my curiosity is peeked. If anyone has tried it, let me know what you think!

Morocco

I think Morocco feels the most culturally immersive. I love meandering throughout the doorways and alleys admiring the mosaic tile work and overall craftsmanship of the pavilion. Head to the bar at Spice Road Table  for a specialty cocktail. You can also experience fantastic views of Illuminations: Reflections of Earth from this restaurant.

France

While they have great wine, I highly suggest ordering a Grand Marnier Orange Slushy to enjoy and purchase a bottle of wine to take with you! While in France you MUST go to Les Halles Boulangerie Patisserie. The pastry is TO. DIE. FOR.

United Kingdom

Of course they have a stellar selection of beer, Scotch, specialty cocktails, wine and Pub Blends. You can’t go wrong going to the Rose and Crown Pub to nosh on traditional British fare and enjoy a cold beer in this lively waterfront pub. Catch a live musical performance and if you’re lucky, view Illuminations from here. If you don’t want to go into the restaurant, you can get a yard of ale from the beverage cart located outside the Rose and Crown and a snack from the Yorkshire County Fish Shop.

Canada

Canada is the last stop on the World Showcase, and unfortunately for the purpose of drinking around the world, not very impressive. There is one cart that serves beer and sometimes offers a seasonal keg. I suggest going to Canada and then backtracking to the United Kingdom. The UK is so much fun and offers a wonderful selection; it would be a disappointment not to end your tour there.

Drinking around the world is quite a task. It’s a marathon – be sure to pace yourself and throw in the towel if you’ve hit your limit. We’ve often stretched it out over a couple of days, drinking at a couple of countries each time or sharing drinks. Please remember you are in a family friendly theme park and don’t make a complete fool of yourself by acting like a drunk idiot. Eat, drink water, and take breaks along the way.  If this sounds like something you’d like to do sans children, remember Disney offer’s several Children’s Activity Centers in various hotels. In-room childcare is also available.

Cheers!
